Curriculum Overview

Our Curriculum

The more that you readthe more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.” ― Dr. Seuss

We have designed our Curriculum to inspire a love of learning and a passion for reading which is evident at school and at home.  Through our topics, which are linked to specifically chosen books to engage the children's interests, we adopt a knowledge engaged approach to learning equipping our children with the skills needed to become successful citizens.

We focus on developing character and preparing the children for future learning and employment through our careers and aspirations program supported by annual residential opportunities throughout Key Stage 2.

At Folksworth we believe that the best way to learn is to immerse ourselves in a range of experiences both inside and outside and take every opportunity to participate in educational visits to further our learning.

Our curriculum has a focus on developing skills needed for the future including the need for a growth mindset.  This is underpinned by the 5Rs of learning (see learning behaviours). We use a range of technology to learn and collaborate to equipping us for the world of work.

Our curriculum is mapped using the Sonar Curriculum tools to ensure clear progression of knowledge and skills across the school.
