School Uniform

School Uniform

Please find below the uniform code for our school, which has been agreed following consultation across the school community.

The wearing of school uniform is important for a number of reasons:-

  • It gives the children a sense of belonging to the school community;
  • It should engender pride;
  • It offers each child the chance to come to school without the pressure of competition among peers to be the best dressed or to have the latest hair fashion;
  • It is the safest and most suitable clothing for the activities of the school day;
  • It fosters the work ethic of the school.

All uniform must be named.

Girls

  •  Blue ‘Folksworth’ sweatshirt (to order from the supplier – information available from the school office)
  • White polo shirt – shirts with the school logo printed on are available from the supplier if required
  • Grey or navy skirt or pinafore (roughly knee length), or grey or black trousers – not flared
  • Optional blue/white check summer dress
  • Navy or white long or ankle socks (no trainer socks), or navy tights

 Boys

  •  Blue ‘Folksworth’ sweatshirt (to order from the supplier – information available from the school office)
  • White polo shirt – shirts with the school logo printed on are available from the supplier if required
  • Grey or black long or short (above the knee) trousers – please note that these must be standard uniform trousers – not casual sportswear
  • White/grey/black long or ankle socks (no trainer socks)

Footwear

All children must have clean footwear for indoor activities. This footwear is usually kept in school and must be appropriate for classroom activities – i.e. any heels must be low and the footwear must fit correctly. Acceptable indoor footwear therefore includes plimsolls, low sandals (providing they are not backless) or ordinary low shoes. Please note: No mules or backless shoes/sandals

For outdoor activities – i.e. walking to and from school and playtimes – ordinary shoes or sandals should be worn. Again, these must be low and not backless. Trainers may be worn, and these may be used also for outdoor P.E. and games. (Parents may like to note that black trainers often look smarter than white ones when under long trousers)

PE

Indoor Kit:

  • White polo shirt or t-shirt – shirts with the school logo printed on are available from the supplier if required
  • Black or navy shorts

Note: Footwear is not worn for indoor P.E.

Outdoor Kit:

  • White polo shirt or t-shirt
  • Black or navy shorts (summer)
  • Black or navy track suit (tracksuit bottoms with a change of school sweatshirt is acceptable)
  • Plimsolls or trainers (older children will need trainers)

Jewellery

The wearing of jewellery in school presents a number of difficulties in terms of health and safety, peer pressure and security. The only jewellery that may be worn is simple stud or sleeper earrings in pierced ears. Please note that these will need to be removed or taped over for P.E. and games lessons. If your child is able to read the time, he/she may wear a watch to school – again, these will need to be removed for P.E. or games.
